Bluebonnet Award News

Thirty-eight students from Nanny Elementary and De La Paz Middle School
participated in our Bluebonnet Voting Celebration on January 31.
Pictured in order - 4 6th graders, 5 5th graders, 13 4th graders, and 16
3rd graders.  In order to be eligible to vote, students must read at
least 5 of the titles on the current Bluebonnet List.  Our winner was
Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper.  Two books tied for second place - The
Witch's Guide to Cooking with Children by Keith McGowan and The Shadows
by Jacqueline West.  The state winner was The Strange Case of the
Origami Yada.  The second place winner was Goal and Out of My Mind was
the 3rd place winner. Students who read at least 18 of the 20 titles
will receive a book of their choice from the Spring Book Fair.
Congratulations to all of our students who participated and to our
teachers who encouraged and supported the program.
