Eighth Annual
South Texas Career EXPO
Friday, March 28, 2008
J. K. Northway Exposition Center
Kingsville, Texas
The South Texas Career EXPO differs from a traditional "College Day" program. The program involves a hands-on, browse format for specific career disciplines in which actual instructors, business or industry personnel, present demonstrations. The goal is to provide a more comprehensive overview of the required course work and future career opportunities. Presenters who bring actual equipment and resources to demonstrate are extremely successful in attracting students to their program.
The goal of the South Texas Career EXPO is to
educate students, parents, and communities to the reality of tomorrow's career
market. Too often a student ends up in a degree program or with a completed
degree that does not lead to their desired career. The purpose of the South
Texas Career EXPO is to give student's a "picture" of technical and
other demonstrable careers and a better understanding of what each career
entails.
South Texas Career EXPO Goals
To provide students with hands-on or demonstration type career exploration opportunities.
To provide students with an opportunity to connect knowledge of a degree or certificate with a specific career.
To expose students to current and future career fields.
To provide students an opportunity to as many students in the region as possible.
To provide a connection between educational and workforce components through involvement of regional business and industry employers.
