On Saturday, May 26, band students from Riviera ISD participated in the UIL State Solo/Ensemble Contest in Pflugerville, TX.  In order to qualify for state, all groups and soloists had to receive a I rating at their region contests.  Soloists were also required to memorize their solo as well as receive a I rating at region.  Alexandria Sholtis received a 2 rating on a flute solo and David Arce received a 3 rating on a guitar solo.  The flute quartet, of Alexandria Sholtis, Clarissa Cortez, Gabby Mezomo and Laura Trevino, received a two rating, and the clarinet quartet, of MaryJo Figueroa, Carson Alsop, Lina Kang and Tammy Rodriguez received a 4 rating.  This is the largest group we have taken to the State level in a long time.
